National Day of Prayer

There will NOT be a public prayer event with James Dobson front and center at the White House tomorrow. Some christians are outraged. It doesn't really bother me.

I think prayer is good and here are the options I'm considering for tomorrow...

1. There will be a prayer breakfast in front of the Litchfield Park library, 6:45AM - 8:00AM

2. Prayer walk at the AZ state capitol building. Meet at the flag pole at 7AM.

3. Kid friendly prayer event at Phoenix City Hall at noon.

There are many rallys in the evening but I will be working. What do you do for NDP?

All info was found on the NDP taskforce website.

Manuel's Mexican Food

Manuel's Mexican Food offers "Kid's Eat Free" on Wednesday. They have several locations in the Valley. The deal is one free kids entree with one paid adult entree. One of the kids meal's is two mini tacos... (which were not so mini that my girls could not each eat one and have it be sufficient). The wife and I each had a chimichunga dinner and water to drink. With tax and tip it was $30 for our family of five. Not really cheaper than eating at home, but very affordable for a nice quiet sit down dinner. We went to the Goodyear location. We were seated in a huge booth connected to the bar and not in the main dining room. The atmosphere was very chill and we were able to watch the Phillies finish the world series and the Suns beat the Spurs at the same time. I want to go back and try the fried ice cream.

Still Adjusting to Where I Live...

Driving my wife to school yesterday, I saw for the first time Sheriff Joe's chain gang. They were there on the side of the road pulling weeds in striped jump suits. (I started singing songs from the movie "brother where art thou".) It's one thing to get the circulated emails... and quite another to drive past it. The whole thing seemed more like an campaign ad to get sheriff Joe re-elected, than some kind of correctional or punitive measure. Since living here I have been made aware of how much division, discontent, and expensive law suits he is responsible for. It was weird to see his name on the primary ballot ( he ran un-opposed). We'll see what happens in November. Will Maricopa re-elect "America's Toughest Sheriff"? I hope not.

So What...I'm Cheap.

New Season. New Schedule.

With Leah going back to school I am once again readjusting my sleep schedule. I'm now trying to go to bed early enough to wake up for work and then be able to stay home with the girls with out a nap. Should be easier after the rest of the world has time change but Arizona doesn't.
(I never thought about it before, but working at the airport in a time sensitive bussiness where planes come and go to and from places that have now "fallen back" an hour, means I will be getting an extra hour of sleep!).

Leah going back to school means I have been playing taxi driver and Mr. Mom. I've been trying to find fun stuff to do with the girls while Isaac is at school. Today, we had lunch at Lone Star Steakhouse and Saloon. This place has great lunch specials and on Tuesdays kids eat for free. Our lunch was $7.99 + tax and tip for all three of us to have a nice sit down lunch together ( I honestly don't think we could have done Mickey D's for that, although there is no "play place" at Lone Star ). The girls both ordered hot dogs although they could have had steak medallions...toddlers. I had a "bubba" chicken sandwich which was awesome. I may have found my Tuesday spot.
