Success...Sort of!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to Carla, Liz, my wife (who doesn't blog yet...maybe 2009), and others who have helped tremendously in my most recent gainful employment expeditions.

Today I have good news to report. Evidently the better qualified person didn't work out for even one day... so they called me. I am now the Shuttle Driver/ Banquet Man for the Hampton Inn - Airport North. I work Thursday and Friday nights every week. Yes, I get to work on Christmas day. Goodie! I am very happy about this; not because it will allow me to meet all of our financial obligations and live an abundant life, but because it will be a workable stop gap measure so we don't hit crisis while I go through the lengthy process of finding a real professional 8-5 job. Who knows, maybe my teddy bear like smile and irresistible personality will produce outrageously large tips and I'll get rich working two days a week. It could happen. Either way, there are some good options and I am encouraged.

Just wanted to say thank you to the TTSM readers for your thoughts and prayers, and for allowing me to share life with you! Many folks in our church and other circles are currently looking for work...it reminds me to be thankful for the many blessings I've received. Hope you do the same. Merry Christmas!

Still Looking...

The journey of dissapoinment and rejection continues. Evidently there are others more qualified than me to drive a van and set up tables. Who knew? Today I had a phone interview with a nice lady from GCU about being an Enrollment Counselor. It was my first phone interview, so I'm not sure how I did. She asked lots of questions like "Tell me about an experience where you met a goal by exceeding what was expected..." and "Tell me about an experience where you benefited from using active listening skills." Now that I think about it, she didn't really ask too many questions, just lots of "Tell me about". Sounds like a pretty lengthy process... the next hiring will be in Febuary. For those of you who pray, please include me in those thoughts. I need something additional right away. I think it just might be a good fit. The job comes with benefits and the chance to go back to school for free. I would love to get some more letters after my name. For now, the hunt continues!

Looking for work...

...has got to be the worst thing ever. I love it when you apply to somewhere you know you are over qualified for and you take some stupid test online and get an email like this...

I knew I shouldn't have admitted to fooling around in high school and sometimes talking back to my boss or teacher. I was hoping to get points for honesty. Makes we want to buy several cases of Coke.
