"My pastor"

Last week one of my co-workers said he was no longer going to refer to me as "the Pastor" because well... "You're the closest thing to a pastor I got it!" He has since introduced me as "his pastor".

The whole role, office, privledge (whatever you want to call it) is still a trip to me and it's hard enough to hear people in my church call me this... but people outside the church?

Maybe I get overly caught up in semantics, but this seemed significant and very encouraging to me.

Pesky comma

A few months ago we had a new expectant couple visit our church. On their connection card they said; "Please pray for our Baby, Orlando". I sent them a note that said we would be praying for Baby Orlando. Evidently, the baby is yet to be named and Orlando is the Dad-to-be's co-worker. Oops! The unknown prayer was that said co-worker, Orlando, IS a real cry baby, so when the ironic miscommunication showed up... said couple had a great laugh.

So what does God do with misdirected prayer and misused commas?

Why did we do that?

This has got to be the worst question a boss could ever ask! First, if you are "we" and you don't already know the answer, then you are not really "we" and this is only a less rude sounding way of asking "Why did YOU do that?". I've decided there are only three possible answers to this question...

1. There is a very good, (or at least accpetable reason) "we" did that.

2. I don't care.

3. I'm insuburdinate.

Reccomendation to all bosses; If you really think #2 or #3 are true, don't beat around the bush, cut to the chase and let's get this resolved. If you think it's #1 and there is a disagreement about what is good or acceptable, maybe the better question is; "What could WE do so this happens differently next time?" or maybe "Is there anything I could do, to help YOU do this better?" These questions might be helpful, the first one is not.

Still working through some stuff. Hoping for more positive change. Thankful that Yo is at home. Looking forward to small groups and a vacation. PEACE.
